2 1/2 weeks old

ready to go out

look at those chub rolls...someone must be making some good milk.

thats the face I like to see

Moriah has changed a lot in the last two weeks. I can't believe the newborn stage is already over...she's a lot more alert and likes to look around and make eye contact. She doesn't cry that much. Only fusses when she's hungry or needs to burp and occasionally has one of those melt-downs for no aparent reason. She has been doing a bit better at night. For us big people, sleeping two-three hours at a time takes some getting used to but she manages to be pretty cute in the middle of the night and everyone keeps on saying "It's all over sooo quick..they grow up so fast...blah blah blah" So I try to cherish it. We sure do love her.

Update on the Little Bugger

this ones for you, Abby

sleeping...

her first real bath

look, she's got Grandpa Henry's hairline!
getting a checkup

Life with a new baby sure takes some getting used to. She seems to get cuter and cuter every day and is opening her eyes and looking around more. She's a pretty content baby most of the time but at night it's another story. She'll wake up to nurse when she's supposed to, but then as soon as she starts, it's like the magic drousy pill. We change her diaper, talk to her, bounce her, put wet wipes on her feet, you name it, the kid is out cold. And i am EXHAUSTED. But my mom has been helping out a lot so I get to nap in the afternoon. Waking up to a hot meal and a clean kitchen is priceless...

Labor: 8 hrs from start to finish

Okay now for the details on how she got here:

I had been having some pre-labor signs since friday, on and off cramping and braxon hicks but nothing really serious. Saturday night at 9 pm we were getting ready for bed and I was feeling really crampy and grumpy and just wanted to go to sleep in case I'd be up in the night with labor. Well suddenly contractions started...and i mean suddenly. I didn't want to be a baby and start complaining about the pain yet, just in case I wasn't really in labor. Haha....But it defininately felt different. They were 3-5 min apart and I had to work with them. Daniel and I were back and forth on whether or not this was IT. So we called our midwife and she came and checked me and I was already 5 cm. dialated! I We were planning on a water birth and I had most of my intense labor in the tub but due to the baby's heart rate dropping with contractions, we moved to the bed and that's where she was born after 8 hours of labor and a reletively short pushing stage. With some instruction from the midwife, Daniel got to catch her and she was pink and crying right away. I couldn't believe it was over. No, stitches, nothing, no excess bleeding and she nursed right away. Labor was definently the hardest thing I've ever done, but I felt quite peaceful the whole time and don't ever remember "loosing it" or deciding that I just couldn't go on any more. Daniel was an AMAZING coach and never left my side. We also had both grandma's present (aka Pam and Tammy) and Moriah is officially the first grandchild to both sides of our family. We're getting rested up now but there will be more pics coming soon.
